INTERNET SAFETY NIGHT
Texting, Facebook, YouTube. What are kids doing on the Internet? And who are they talking with? Learn about social networking, texting, and how to keep your child safe online at our Internet Safety Night on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Avenue City School.
Technology is changing fast, and many of us are struggling to stay one step ahead of our kids and learn everything we can about going online. This isn’t an easy task—our kids have never known life without the Internet, and in many cases, they know more about it than we do.
Please join us as we discuss what our children are doing online and how to teach them to be smart, safe, and respectful digital citizens. You’ll learn about:
- The importance of learning about the sites and applications your child uses
- How kids are using mobile devices like smart phones, tablets and e-readers
- Social networking sites and how to help your child use them wisely
- What to do if your child is the victim of online bullying
- Objectionable content, how to block it, and what to do if your child views it
- Online gaming
PTO will be giving away to one attendee at this meeting a FREE license for the ONLINE GUARDIAN program. This program will help you protect your kids from Internet dangers. This parental control software lets your monitor your kids' Internet activity 24/7 from anywhere and take action to keep them safe. (One lucky attendee of this event will receive this program for free - the program is valued at $49.95!)
Below are some handouts for parents that will be included:
- Cyberbullying - what is it and how can I protect my child
- Internet Safety
- Cell Phone and Smart Phones
- Internet Safety Contract
- Mobile Kids Tips for Parents
- Social Media Resources
We look forward to seeing you Tuesday, November 5, 2013 @ 6:30 PM and discussing this important topic.
