Andrew County Youth Sports Equipment Drive and Recycle Event
The rising cost to participate in area youth athletics is placing a burden on local families with children who desire toplay. As a result, PLAY ON is partnering with Andrew County schools to organize a youth athletic equipment drive and recycle event. We are asking that you please send gently used athletic / dance uniforms and equipment that have been outgrown or are no longer used to school between March 9 – 16th. You are then invited to the recycle event on March 28th from 10 – 3 at the First Baptist Church of Savannah. At this event, you can hunt through the donated equipment for items that your kids can put to good use. All items will be free, but this is not a need based event! No family enjoys purchasing new equipment every season, so ALL Andrew Country families are invited to donate AND shop.
Great Donations Might Include:
- Baseball / Softball pants, gloves, belts, helmets, bats, & cleats
- Athletic balls and bags
- Football pants
- practice jerseys, & cleats
- Wrestling shoes & headgear
- Gymnastics / Dance leotards and shoes
- Basketball shoes
- Cheer gear
- Volleyball knee pads, shorts, & shoes
- Tennis racquets & skirts
- Soccer shorts, shin guards, & cleats
- Misc athletic & school apparel
In addition, information on PLAY ON scholarships will be available at the recycle event. Scholarship opportunities are available to help families with fees associated with participating in area athletics; these are need based. We see this as an excellent way to lighten the burden of having our children be active, healthy, and socially involved. Thank you so much for helping PLAY ON help you! **PLAY ON is a mission started at the FBC in Savannah during the summer of 2014. Our goal is to help make it easier on families in Andrew County who have kids participating in athletics. We do this by assisting with associated fees and equipment needs. Seed funds were raised at the 2014 Andrew County Block Party.** To make a donations at Avenue City School see Mrs. Russell or Mrs. Curry.
