INTERNAL/EXTERNAL
ANALYSIS
In order to
identify areas for improvement, ACES examined internal and external
factors to gather an in-depth, current understanding of the
District’s status in accordance to previous. The CSIP
Committee reviewed a number of sources of data, which
included:
* Results of
the most recent MSIP review
* Annual Performance Reports
* Information from the District Report Card
* Standardized assessment data including the Missouri Assessment
Program
* Focus groups
Review of
this information indicated that ACES is excelling in many
areas. Many strengths are noted. The potential areas
for improvement are areas where CSIP Committee Members felt the
District could do better, but are not necessarily of great
weakness. Strengths and areas for improvement
included:

Additional
Elements:
The No Child
Left Behind Act (NCLB) states that districts must have long-range
education technology plans to apply for program funds and that the
plan address specific evaluation requirements. Describe the process
and accountability measures the district will use to evaluate the
extent to which activities funded by an NCLB program are effective
in integrating technology into curricula and instruction,
increasing the ability of teachers to teach, and enabling students
to reach challenging State academic standards.
The District
believes it is essential that evaluation of technology be a
necessity in order to provide the most effective means of education
to our students. The use of technology in our school system must
improve our educational results. Technology is a tool to reach our
educational goals. Our technology plan will provide us with
direction to see if we are achieving our mission and the extent
that it is impacting students. All of the sections within this plan
are based on the data and evaluation collected yearly. The
following are the three components that make up the ACES Technology
Plan Evaluation process: Board of Education Review: Annual program
evaluation presented to the ACES Board of Education. Technology
Committee Meetings: Bi-Annual meetings of the district technology
meeting, either face-to-face or virtual. Technology Plan Benchmark
Evaluation: based on meeting the objectives, strategies, and action
steps included in the Plan and review each year by the Technology
Committee.
The
Universal Service Fund E-rate Program states that district
long-range plans must address five essential elements. The district
provides assurances to DESE that the technology plan contains the
following:
Clear goals and realistic strategies for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education
services;
• Professional development strategies to ensure that staff know to
use these new technologies to improve education services;
• Assessment of the telecommunication services, hardware, software,
and other services that will be needed to improve education
services;
• Sufficient budget to acquire and support the non-discounted
elements of the plan: the hardware, software, professional
development and other services that will be needed to implement the
strategy; and
• Evaluation process that enables the school to monitor progress
toward the specified goals and make mid-course corrections in
response to new developments and opportunities as they arise.
