What’s Happening in Fourth Grade?
Week of: February 6-10
Reading- We will begin our unit over poetry. Students will practice finding rhyme scheme, create alliteration, and learn about similes and metaphors.
Math-Students will practice with metric capacity and mass. We will also make tables to problem solve. On Wednesday, we will have Dr. Nancy Edwards from MWSU come work with us on a “Math Investigation” which will put our measurement skills into real life problem solving. We will review on Thursday and Friday will be the test over measurement.
Social Studies-Students will continue our unit on state government and learn about local government as well. The test over chapter 6 will be coming up the week of Feb. 13.
Science- Students will be learning more about landforms, erosion, and deposition. We will be using a template to make connections as to how the vocabulary words in chapter 9 relate. The scoring guide was handed out this week for the volcano project. The projects are due on March 1st and 2nd for each student to present to the class.
Writing/Language- We will work with adjectives that compare, practice combining sentences with adjectives, and review letter punctuation. There will be a test over the adjectives unit on Tuesday, February 14th.
