Avenue City School PTO Funds Sensory Path for School Hallway
The staff at Avenue City School believe that children learn through play. Students learn more when there are fun activities that create strong pathways between the body and the brain. Sensory play builds nerve connections within the developing brain's neural pathways, triggering a child's inclination for and ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction. Thus, incorporating a sensory path is a quick and fun way for children to regulate their bodies and get ready to learn! It helps flip the learning switch! Sensory paths can also incorporate self regulation through use of stop signs, directional arrows, and mental challenges (alphabet, counting, shapes).
The staff at Avenue City approached the District's PTO about installing a Sensory Pathway in the hallway for the students. When used correctly this sensory pathway will hep students get their minds and bodies ready to learn! Thank your Avenue City PTO for contracting with Therapy at Schools, LLC to install this pathway for our students!
