Did you know according the State Historical Society: In 1877 it was the popular opinion that St. Joseph, Missouri, would grow towards Savannah. Avenue City, a halfway place between the two, was so named because it was thought that it would soon connect with Frederick Avenue in St. Joseph.
This afternoon, our ACES Academic Team traveled to Stewartsville to put their knowledge and teamwork to the test!
We came away from the matches with one win and one tie—and, more importantly, gained valuable experience, challenged ourselves, and represented ACES with pride!

Today, Avenue City School came together to honor and remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the enduring strength of our nation on September 11, 2001.
September 11, 2026, marks Patriot Day and the 25th anniversary of the attacks on U.S. soil.
Nearly 40% of the total U.S. population was either not yet born or five years old and under in 2001, meaning an overwhelming majority of younger generations have no personal memory of that day. For them, 9/11 is a historical event learned through classrooms and community stories rather than a lived experience.
To honor the lives lost and reflect on this pivotal moment in history, our district is observing Patriot Day .
Flags are lowered to honor victims and heroes.
A local fire truck is present in the parking lot, and the commons area features a tribute display with firefighter gear and photographs from 9/11/2001.
Students have written letters to local emergency responders, connecting history to present-day gratitude.
As time moves forward, days like today ensure we keep promise to never forget—honoring our first responders, remembering those we lost, and teaching the legacy of unity to the next generation.

Current status: Fully charged! 🔌⚡ Our 4th-grade scientists were in their element today mastering electrical circuits. The classroom was absolutely buzzing with positive energy and bright ideas. Way to stay grounded!💡

Never a dull moment! One minute we're catching critters and next we're reading books, chatting with local football players, and playing with Mac. Learning can be found anywhere-and around here it always an adventure!
Civic engagement in action! Every spring, Mrs. Forney’s 7th-grade Civics class writes to the President to practice civil discourse and advocate for national causes. Now in 8th grade, the entire class just received response letters back from President Donald Trump!
